My stay at the hotel was mixed with some highlights and a few disappointments. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the friendly staff made my experience enjoyable. I appreciated the beautiful surroundings and the cozy restaurant, but the dining options could use some improvement, especially at breakfast. While it offered decent value for the price, I did find the lack of a family kitchen frustrating, and the room setup could use some tweaking for better functionality.

Dining

The dining experience was decent, but I found the breakfast offerings quite basic and the wait times for cooked items were a bit long.

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel while completing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The location was fantastic and offered a great atmosphere, especially with a sports event happening. The rooms were clean, although a bit compact. The dining experience was enjoyable on the first night, but we faced some challenges regarding facilities in our room. Overall, I found the hotel to be good value for money, but some improvements could enhance the experience further.

Rooms

We stayed in a quad room that was fairly compact but clean. It had tea and coffee making facilities, and the beds were comfortable, though the bathroom was quite tiny.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. They provided quick service during dinner and were nice about giving us information regarding the restaurant and events.
Location
9.0
The hotel is centrally located, making it handy for accessing various parts of Tongariro National Park, and is just a short drive from Whakapapa.
Dining

I enjoyed my dinner in the restaurant with a lively atmosphere, but I was informed about limited breakfast options.

The hotel has good facilities overall, but we lacked kitchen items in our room, which was disappointing, as storage was limited.

Overall, the lodge has a great location for outdoor activities, especially if you're planning on hiking the nearby parks. The rooms are clean but quite small, making it a bit cramped, especially for families. The bathroom facilities are also limited with only one small sink, which can be a hassle for more than one person. The dining options were convenient, but I found the packed lunch to be subpar compared to what I would have preferred to prepare myself.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were clean but small, leaving little space for luggage. The bathroom setup was inconvenient with a small sink and limited space.
Service
7.0
The service was satisfactory, with the staff being nice and accommodating, though there were some notable noise issues.
Location
9.0
Ideal for hikers, the lodge is conveniently located near the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, making it perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was okay, but I found the packed lunch options lacking and would recommend preparing something yourself.
Facilities
6.0
The lodge offers essential facilities but could benefit from improvements, especially concerning bathroom usability.

We had a mixed experience at the hotel. On one hand, the location is fantastic with a restaurant and bar on-site, and the rooms are newly refurbished and clean. On the other hand, the dining options could use improvement, and overall, the service was lacking in key areas, especially regarding our check-in. While the stay had its perks, the negatives were quite noticeable, making it challenging to fully enjoy our visit.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms are freshly decorated and clean but a bit cramped, especially the bathrooms. The amenities were pretty standard, yet the lack of space was disappointing for the price we paid.
Service
5.0
The service was hit or miss. While some staff were kind and offered good recommendations, the manager's attitude was extremely unhelpful which left a bad impression on our stay.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is unbeatable with its close proximity to the national park and local dining options. We loved being able to relax in the bar area after a day of exploring.
Dining
5.0
Dining was a letdown given that food often ran out and the prices felt inflated for what was offered. We had hoped for a better experience and ended up going elsewhere.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were decent, but the shared kitchen area was eliminated, which may not cater to families looking for convenience. The atmosphere was okay, though.

I had a pleasant stay at the Park Hotel during my skiing trip to Mt Ruapehu. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy log fire, and the food was delicious. However, my room was a bit noisy, and I experienced some issues with the bed and bathroom layout. Overall, it was a charming place to stay with some room for improvement.

Rooms

The room was a bit small and somewhat noisy, especially from upstairs. The bathroom was decent, but the bed was uncomfortable.
Service
